Cornhill Castle Wedding and a Birthday Ceilidh in Berwick

Updated: Jan 11, 2020

Last weekend we were at Cornhill Castle near Biggar to play for a wedding ceilidh. The function room is equisitely decked out in keeping with the style of the main Castle and provides a super dance floor complete with built-in stage and lighting effects.

This Friday the band travelled over the border to Berwick-upon-Tweed to play for a birthday party in Berwick Rugby Club. Having played at the venue before a couple of years ago it was great to return, this time to celebrate Jodi's 40th birthday!

The place was packed and the ceilidh dancing went down a treat, with dances such as Dashing White Sergeant, Virginia Reel, Strip the Willow, Riverside Jig and Flying Scotsman keeping the floor busy. Just before the evening buffet of Haggis and Stovies, a piper came in to play a lively selection of tunes, finishing up with everybody singing "happy birthday".

After a DJ set, playing some of the classic disco tunes, we went back to the ceilidh dancing to finish off the evening.

Next weekend is St Andrew's Night and we will be playing in Glasgow and then December is another busy month for us culminating in our Hogmanay Ceilidh Dance in Assembly Roxy, "Hogmanay Ceilidh, ye Dancer"
